Artist Harish Saluja is a filmmaker, painter, entertainer, entrepreneur, engineer, publisher, writer, music producer and radio host.His abstract paintings have been exhibited worldwide. They are inspired by music, colors, emotions and textures of Indian classical music.
Harish Saluja came to the USA in the early 70’s after getting an engineering degree from one of the most prestigious Indian institutions, IIT Kharagpur. After spending some here in the USA, he realized that people in America weren’t much informed about the rich cultural heritage of the Indian subcontinent. He proceeded to ameliorate this situation. In his quest for cultural connection, he started a radio program called ‘Music of India’ on a local radio station and hosted it for 46 years.
His passion for films led him to for New Ray Films an Indie film company. He worked in Tony Buba’s ‘No Pets’ (1994) as an associate producer, and later as the executive producer of film ‘Dog eat Dog’. Saluja wrote, directed and produced ‘The Journey’ (1997), a comedy drama. The movie won several awards and was shown worldwide.
He started ‘Silk Screen Film Festival’ that showcased Asian and American films.His artworks include miniatures (3×5 inches abstract pieces) as well as large paintings. He had various exhibitions in the US and Europe.
The miniatures have been incorporated in handbags under the brand name Indigo Art Bags. This brand is slowly garnering attention due to its unique feature of having an original piece of art.
