About Harish Saluja

Artist Harish Saluja is a filmmaker, painter, entrepreneur, engineer, publisher, writer, music producer and radio host.

His abstract paintings have been exhibited in the United States and Europe. They are inspired by music and the colors, emotions and textures of the Indian classical music.

In addition to the large paintings, he is also known for his miniature abstracts. These are incorporated in vegan ladies’ hand bags and sold under the Indigo Trading banner.

Originally from India, he received a degree in engineering from IIT, Kharagpur but always had a strong love of the visual arts, music and filmmaking.

After moving to USA, he produced several independent films and acted in various commercials and in the Walt Disney film “Money for Nothing”.

He wrote, produced and directed “The Journey”, a cross-cultural comedy/drama. Screened in over 20 film festivals around the world, it won Best Film awards in various film festivals.

His film company New Ray Films is developing 2 film projects: GMInc ancnd Chasing Windmills.

Many also know him as the co-host of Music from India, a radio program, for 46 years. His music followers can follow his weekly Podcast A House at the Crossroads

He formed the Silk Sound band, an Asia-American Jazz ensemble. Its Sun Gate album received considerable critical acclaim.

In 2006 Harish launched Silk Screen an arts and cultural organization in Pittsburgh. Its main event was a very successful international Film Festival.
